Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Police then located multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are not yet aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for information.
An important representative said the incident left him without words and required to be solved quickly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine victims by a gunman focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
