19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player won his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-time coach Cervara.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's first trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.

Victory also means he has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, including in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and regular reactions on court had led some to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

He fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour victory, gained dominance to create a third set.

Moutet saved 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
